Evolution & Biomechanics Lab

John D. Polk
University at Albany

Welcome to the Evolution and Biomechanics Lab

My lab conducts research to understand human motion and bone biology in living people and animal models.

Our goals are to explore and evaluate how and why:
(1) anatomical variation influences locomotor function, performance and health;
(2) bone tissues responds to their mechanical environment
(3) running influences the function and evolution of other anatomical systems (e.g., brains)
(4) locomotor behaviors have changed through evolutionary time;
